Halloween isn’t just for gore and scares, it is also a time when ultimate fantasies are brought to life. A testament to that is the Opulence Halloween Ball. After years of being on hold, the ball is back and promises a spectacular display of costumes crafted by some of the noted Filipino fashion designers and more. If you’re as excited as we are, here are some of the things you need to know about the Halloween party.

First, what is the Opulence Halloween Ball?

Led by Mond Gutierrez and Ash Rye, the Opulence Halloween Ball first started in 2019. The theme then was “Let Them Eat Cake,” stars and industry personalities gracing the event with their interpretations of Marie Antoinette fashion. With its bold style moments and grand setup, the ball became the most talked about Halloween event that Manila had ever seen.

What is the theme this year?

Much like its past edition, the Opulence Halloween Ball 2023 promises more spellbinding looks as attendees are tasked to present their modern take on mythology, folklore, and ancient times. A glimpse of it was showcased earlier this October as fashion icons such as Anne Curtis, James Reid, Pia Wurtzbach, and Solenn Heusaff, among others, donned garbs inspired by god and goddesses crafted by designers Anthony Ramirez, Bonita Penaranda, Jerome Lorico, Job Dacon, Martin Bautista, Patty Ang, and Rajo Laurel.

“The success of our first Opulence Ball in 2019 inspired us to continue upping the ante for Halloween revelry in Manila,” says Mond Gutierrez. “We’re taking things higher on a bigger stage with an even bigger programming this year.”

“I’m truly excited for this year’s Opulence Ball,” adds co-producer Ash Rye. “With over three years worth of inspiration and preparation, I’m already proud of what we’re about to achieve, and I can’t wait to see all our friends, guests, and partners have fun at this extraordinary Halloween event.”

Apart from the costumes, what should people expect?

The Opulence Halloween Ball 2023 will also feature a fashion presentation by world-renowned designer and legendary visionary Furne Amato of Amato Couture. With designs intimating celestial beings, Furne will present a 20-piece collection of fantastical gowns with intricate embellishments, sculptural bodices and cage corsets, and delicate tulle regalia laden with pearls, feathers, and crystals.

Jaël, a DJ and R&B artist from The Netherlands, and multifaceted producer and Seoul scene standout Ligrye will play at this one-of-a-kind Halloween revelry. International burlesque artist Flowerbomb also promises a mesmerizing performance at the ball.

A stellar line-up of Filipino DJs including Marga on the Mic, Emel Rowe, Euric, and Nix Damn P will also hit the decks, whisking guests away into a different enchanting realm through their
music.

Also joining the merrymaking at the Opulence Halloween Ball 2023 are the event’s co-presenters and official liquor partners Don Julio 1942 and Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

The Opulence Halloween Ball 2023 is also sponsored by BYS and Jewelmer and is in partnership with All About Home, Discovery Samal, L’Oreal Pro, and Trendyol x Zalora. It will take place tonight at the Marquis Events Place BGC.
