The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) welcomed the transfer of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) as one of its attached agencies.
“Our development plan for socioeconomic transformation emphasizes the need to enhance productivity frameworks across government sectors and transform them into cohesive capacity development programs and incentive structures,” NEDA Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan said.
“Thus, DAP’s productivity capability development programs greatly contribute to this strategy,” the NEDA chief said.
President Marcos earlier issued Executive Order No. 45 formalizing the transfer which aims to streamline and rationalize the functional relationships of both agencies and to ensure coherence in the bureaucracy.
DAP was created through the Presidential Decree No. 205 released in 1973, and was attached to the Office of the President.
It is mandated to "promote and support the country’s development efforts through government human resource programs."
DAP will join seven other attached agencies under NEDA, namely the Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute, Philippine Institute for Development Studies, Public-Private Partnership Center, Tariff Commission, Philippine National Volunteer Services Coordinating Agency, and the Commission on Population and Development.
