Marcos made the statement on Tuesday, Oct. 31, as he congratulated the winning barangay officials and emphasized their crucial role in the society.

“Binabati ko ang lahat ng mga bago at muling nahalal na barangay at SK officials. Napakahalaga po ng inyong papel sa ating lipunan (I congratulate the new and reelected barangay and SK officials. Your role in the society is very important)," he said in a video message.

The President told the new officials to serve their community with honesty "at all times" and to always prioritize the welfare of their constituents.

"Isang panibagong pagkakakataon na naman po ito upang makapag serbisyo sa mga Pilipino at sa ating bayan nang buong puso at higit pa sa abot ng ating kakayahan. Maging tapat po tayo sa lahat ng oras (This is a new opportunity to serve the Filipinos and our nation with all your hearts and beyond the reach of your ability. Be honest at all times)," he said.

"Lagi po nating unahin ang kapakanan ng sambayanan sapagkat sila po ang dahilan kung bakit nais nating magsilbi sa bayan (Always prioritize the welfare of the people as they are the reason we want to serve the nation)," he added.

Commission on Election Chairman George Erwin Garcia said on Monday that they are expecting around 70 to 75 percent voter turnout for the barangay and SK elections, which is a slight increase from the 2018 elections that only ranged between 70 to 71 percent.

Garcia also told the President that the barangay and SK polls went smoothly and were generally peaceful.

Marcos extended his gratitude to the Filipino people and to everyone who went out and cast their votes in the recently concluded elections.
