A victim of cellphone snatching in Las Piñas City managed to take away the motorcycle of the suspects using a move he learned from TikTok.

According to a Facebook broadcast made by Las Piñas police chief, Col. Jaime Santos, the incident happened at around 7 a.m. along Zapote-Alabang Road on Monday, Oct. 30.

Santos said the victim, a certain Mark, 22, appeared at the police station wiht the suspects' motorcycle.

He told police that a man on board a motorcycle approached him and offered the services of an escort girl which he refused.

The victim added that a few minutes later, the man with a companion on board the motorcycle again approached him and snatched his OPPO cellphone worth P10,000.

The city police chief said the victim took the courage to grab the key of the motorcycle, a move that appeared to have been inspired by funny videos on “TikTok.”

He then drove the motorcycle to the police station, leaving behind the suspects who fled with his cellphone.

Santos said the police traced the owner of the recovered motorcycle in Bacoor, Cavite. The vehicle, police said, was borrowed by the suspects.

The suspects were also reportedly involved in illegal drugs and gambling activities. They are now being hunted by police.

The city police chief, however, warned the public to exercise caution when imitating actions they see on social media, especially if it involves criminal activities.

Santos said content on TikTok is only a "myth" to attract more viewers and for entertainment only.

The Facebook Live made by Santos has earned millions of views and thousands of shares.
