Hundreds of thousands visit Manila cemeteries ahead of Undas

Around 200,000 people visited the Manila North Cemetery (MNC) and Manila South Cemetery (MSC) ahead of Undas.

The city government said a total of 123,645 visitors flocked to the cemeteries on Oct. 29 and 30, while approximately 70,000 on Oct. 31.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), visitors began arriving at MNC AND MSC as early as 5 a.m.

MPD dispatched at least 300 personnel to secure the premises of the two cemeteries.

Authorities said they expect around P1 million visitors until Nov. 2.

Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan reminded the visitors that vehicles are not allowed to enter inside the city-run cemeteries.

She said the local government has deployed e-tricycles to provide transportation among senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and mothers with small children in the vicinity of the cemeteries.

The mayor also urged the public to keep the surroundings of the cemeteries clean by throwing their trash in the garbage bins.
