Crossovers crush Defenders in three sets

It was the third victory in four outings for the Crossovers, who were coming off a four-set defeat against the Akari Chargers last week.

The win also pushed Gerflor deeper into the cellar as the Defenders absorbed their fourth straight defeat in as many appearances.

Eya Laure fired 12 points built on 11 kills for Chery Tiggo, which overcame the late resistance of Gerflor.

Spearheaded by Jeannette Villareal, Defenders tried to keep the game close in the third set before the Crossovers untangled themselves from a 10-all logjam en route to the match victory.

Ces Robles also paced Chery Tiggo with nine points while Imee Hernandez contributed seven points including three aces.

The Crossovers exposed their rival’s lethargic plays as the Defenders’ setters could only muster six excellent sets out of 96 attempts.

Gerflor also managed 21 total attacks, two blocks and only one ace compared to the commanding numbers of Chery Tiggo in 40 kills, 11 blocks and eight aces.

Even worse, only six players from the Defenders scored for the team as coach Sammy Acaylar desperately tried to find the right combination for his stalwarts with Villareal managing only six points and Jenny Gaviola posting five.
