PH Red Cross holiday safety reminder: Extra precautions for a safe season
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Monday, Oct. 30, reminded the public to ensure the practice of safety precautions especially in the upcoming holiday season to avoid life-threatening incidents.

PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang, in a statement, reminded the public of the importance of practicing additional safety precautions.
This, she noted, is very crucial, especially during the upcoming holiday season as “increased travel to provinces could lead to road or maritime accidents.”
Mass casualty victims in Cebu City receive aid
Meanwhile, PRC noted that a total of two ambulance units and six trained medical personnel immediately responded to the victims of a mass casualty incident in Cebu City.
PRC said its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provided urgent prehospital treatment to four injured victims.

The incident, which happened on the evening of Oct. 27 on the street of J Tabura in Cebu City, involved an elf truck and a multi-cab and resulted in the injury of 13 persons.
PRC’s ambulance team also helped the local authorities transport patients to Cebu City Medical Center.
“Time is of the essence in saving the lives of victims of mass casualty incidents, and that is why our EMS personnel nationwide are trained and equipped to provide immediate medical care to victims outside of a hospital setting,” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dick Gordon.
PRC noted that from Jan. 1 to Oct. 29 this year, it has already deployed over 9,100 ambulance emergency responses, providing urgent medical care to over 28,000 patients.
