
Nearly 50,000 passengers were monitored in ports nationwide Monday, Oct. 30, many of them rushing to go to their home provinces to cast their votes for the Baranggay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said there were 24,703 outbound passengers and 24,664 inbound passengers recorded across the country from 12 midnight to 6 a.m.
Meanwhile, a total of 209 vessels and 52 motorbancas were inspected as the PCG deployed 3,229 frontline personnel in 15 PCG districts.
The peak of the arrival and departure of passengers was achieved on Sunday, Oct. 29, when the PCG monitored 127,000 inbound and outbound passengers.
The PCG placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from Oct. 25 to Nov. 6 to manage the influx of port passengers.
