The police arrested the suspect in front of a basketball court in Banai Compound, Purok 6 in Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig.
The operation was conducted after the police received a report from a citizen about the presence of the suspect who allegedly was in possession of a firearm.
When the police arrived, the suspect allegedly brandished the firearm which led to his arrest and confiscation of his weapon, which was loaded with ammunition.
The suspect failed to provide a valid gun ban exemption from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
He was arrested for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and the Omnibus Election Code.
A request for firearm verification and examination was submitted to the Firearms and Explosives Office of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The police said that upon checking, the suspect had a prior criminal record for robbery.
