Voters troop to polling places early in Sta. Maria, Bulacan


Thousands of registered voters in Barangay San Vicente, Santa Maria, Bulacan, lined up as early as 6:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at the polling places to cast their votes for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). 

Registered voters were assisted at the Voters Assistance Desks in finding their names on the Comelec list. 

At Gulod, San Vicente Elementary School alone, there are 19 precincts wherein 7,058 are voters for barangay chairman and councilors, while 1,907 voters are for SK chairman and young councilors.

A few days ago, there were several complaints of alleged incidents of vote-buying, but they turned out to be false.

Meanwhile, the Francisco and Fernando families from Sitio Gulod, San Vicente, when interviewed by this writer, said they observed that the election in their village was orderly and peaceful because the candidates observed the value of sportsmanship and respected the will of the voters.

“Isang araw lang naman ang botohan kaya matapos magpasya ang taong bayan dapat ay tangapin natin ng maluwag at tumulong sa pagsulong ng kaunlaran at katiwasayan sa ating mga barangay,” (The election is one day only, so we have to accept the decision of the people and help in pushing for the progress and peace in our villages)," the Francisco family said.
