Thirteen persons were arrested for violation of liquor ban under the Omnibus Election Code in relation to the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections 2023 (BSKE) in Brgy. San Manuel, San Jose del Monte (SJDM) and Brgy. Tiaong, Guiguinto in Bulacan on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Based on reports submitted to Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police director, Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) SJDM Police Station personnel received a telephone call from a concerned citizen about an ongoing drinking spree at Savano Park, SJDM, Bulacan.
Responding police officers caught a group of people in the act drinking liquor, which led to the arrest of eight individuals.
Similarly, personnel of the Guiguinto Municipal Police Station, while conducting mobile patrol in Brgy. Tiaong, Guiguinto, Bulacan, saw two men having a drinking spree in front of a sari-sari store.
Immediately, the individuals were arrested together with the store owner. A few meters away from the first apprehension, Two more men were nabbed for drinking liqour on the street.
The arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights.
Appropriate charges will be filed at the Office of the City Prosecutor against the arrested suspects.
The Bulacan police reminded the public that a two-day liquor ban is being implemented from Oct. 29 to 30.
During this period, the selling, distributing, serving, buying, or consuming of liquor are strictly prohibited.
