1,670 QC voters still wait for turn to vote after BSKE cutoff
A total of 1,670 voters for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in Quezon City were still waiting to cast their votes at polling sites even the voting period has already been closed, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Monday, Oct. 30.
Among the schools where voters are still waiting for their turn are Tandang Sora Elementary School (involving 500 persons), Placido Del Mundo Elementary School (400), Ismael Mathay Sr. High School (300), L.R. Pascual Elementary School (400), and Balon Bato Elementary School (200).
Other schools have 30 to 50 voters on queue for their turn to vote for BSKE.
Police said that the gates of the polling sites were closed at around 3 p.m. but those who were in line before the cut-off time will still be able to vote.
There are 169 voting centers in the city, it added.
As of 4 p.m. on Monday, there were 3,900 QCPD personnel deployed in different areas and polling stations in the city for BSKE.
Seventy-four Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) personnel were ready to be deployed, while 14 members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard were assigned in the city to provide assistance when needed.
Police have also established 68 checkpoints to ensure a safe and orderly conduct of elections.
As of 12 p.m. on the same day, the city police also deployed 11 personnel in the city’s six cemeteries and 24 columbariums for the commemoration of “Undas” or All Saints’ Day and All Souls' Day.
It said that it also assigned 63 personnel to the city’s major roads, 79 in places of convergence, and eight force multipliers. There are also seven police assistance desks established for Undas.
The QCPD said it has not recorded yet any untoward incidents related to BSKE or Undas.
