  • This game-changing highway component, with a 93% completion rate, promises to revolutionize transportation in the area by reducing the trip to Tagaytay to just 20 minutes. Additionally, it aims to streamline toll collection with RFID technology while ensuring a smooth transition for toll tellers.

How often do you use CALAX to go to Tagaytay? When CALAX opened, it really alleviated traffic stress and shortened the trip from Manila to Tagaytay. As an advocate of technology, I believe that the perfect road trip equation consists of a reliable car, scenic landscapes, a solid itinerary, and most of all, the right route— otherwise, traffic will cast a shadow on the anticipation of adventure. MPT South organized the most ideal road trip: the Biyaheng South Experiential Tour.

Not only did they craft the ultimate itinerary for biyaheros, but they also made sure the journey was smooth and hassle-free, thanks to the development of CALAX (Cavite-Laguna Expressway) and the upcoming Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange. These modern roadways are revolutionizing travel in the Philippines, ensuring our journeys are as enjoyable as the destinations.

The Biyehing South Experiential Tour by MPT SOUTH commenced from September 21 to September 22.   It aimed to showcase the region’s impressive infrastructure and highlight MPT SOUTH’s efforts to remain sustainable and environmentally conscious. During the tour, we discovered a range of sustainable initiatives and captivating sights that make CALAX a truly exceptional experience.

MPT Hub: A Sustainable and Tech-enabled Office

Our first destination on the Biyaheng South tour was the MPT Hub in Imus, Cavite. The MPT Hub, a LEED Gold-Certified building, is a solar-powered home with fantastic technology. With the help of 284 solar panels, the facility generates 97% of its own energy needs. Their commitment to utilizing green energy is a powerful model for creating sustainable infrastructure.

Additionally, MPT SOUTH is gradually switching to electric vehicles as part of its eco-friendly initiatives. They have an EV charging station and three electric vehicles that serve as their employee shuttles, lowering the organization’s carbon footprint. A complete shift to EVs is in the pipeline, but they are taking significant steps toward a greener future.

SILANG-AGUINALDO INTERCHANGE: The Game-Changer and High-tech Highway

The Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange is crucial to the CALAX highway network. We had the amazing opportunity to be the first batch to pass through the newly minted Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange. Cutting the trip to Tagaytay to only 20 minutes, the interchange promises to revolutionize transportation in the area. We couldn’t help but notice the careful planning that had gone into creating this intersection. Spanning a 3.8-kilometer stretch, MPT SOUTH has been diligently acquiring the right of way for a year. The highway has had a fantastic 93% completion rate, with 95% subject to DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) inspection and approval. The DPWH has partially allowed the highway to be used for civil work.

FUN FACTS ABOUT CALAX:

⦁    Did you know that CALAX uses solar panels? 90% of their energy comes from it, so their electricity bill isn’t that high.
⦁    They have PWD-friendly emergency posts that can be used by hearing-impaired, deaf, and alike. They are all working, and there is no downtime since solar panels run the expressway.

Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange, a cutting-edge highway, is a component of a larger, integrated highway system that promises improved connectivity throughout Region IV. Anticipated to open this October, the Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange results from the collaborative efforts of renowned contractors, DMCI being one of those contractors. Moreover, MPT SOUTH has ambitious plans to turn toll booths 100% RFID, streamlining the toll collection process. Everyone’s first question was: What would happen to the toll tellers? The toll tellers will transition to the Systems Operations department, where their expertise will continue to play a massive role in ensuring that toll machines operate efficiently, creating a hassle-free experience for travelers. They also shared that RFID stickers are completely free, including the application of the sticker. So, if you find yourselves in an unfortunate situation where your RFID sticker is damaged, you can replace it at no charge.

We were treated to an unforgettable experience highlighting their commitment to eco-conscious progress and fostering a profound appreciation for the coexistence of infrastructure and nature along the highways.

Our journey along Cavite was enthralling, to say the least. Thanks to CALAX and the Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange, we will no longer be at the whim of traffic.
