Olivarez said the activity, held at the Parañaque City Sports Complex in Barangay San Antonio, was participated in by 500 youth from the city’s barangays.
He said the participants were given lectures on the importance of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, mental health, and the responsible use of social media.
The City Health Office under Dr. Olga Virtusio said the wellness festival is very important since some youth are suffering from gender discrimination and depression, among others.
Olivarez shared with the youth participants that he also experienced bullying and told them not to be afraid to reach out their families, relatives, or close friends and share what they have experienced.
He said booths were set-up for free mental health consultation and distribution of vitamins.
