Palawan 3rd district Rep. Edward Hagedorn, a former longtime Puerto Princesa mayor, has passed away.

"With heavy hearts, we inform you of the passing of a beloved friend, brother, husband, father, and public servant, Edward Solon Hagedorn," read a post Tuesday morning, Oct. 3 from Facebook page Edward Hagedorn Official.

"Our dear Congressman died peacefully on October 3rd, 2023, after 76 years of shining his light into the world," it added.

A staff of Hagedorn's in the House of Representatives would later confirm the contents of the post.

"On behalf of Cong. Ed, his family, staff and closest kin – we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your love and support, for joining us in celebrating his wonderful life, and most importantly...for being witnesses to the remarkable journey he lived with such zest," the post further read.

It didn't mention anything about what caused Hagedorn's death.

The total membership in the House dropped to 309 with the solon's passing. His stint as House member in the current 19th Congress was his first.

He was designated as vice chairman of various House committees, including the Committee on the West Philippine Sea.

Hagedorn was Puerto Princesa mayor from June 30, 1992 to June 30, 2001; and again from Nov. 12, 2002 to June 30, 2013.

The late King of Philippine Cinema, Fernando Poe Jr. or FPJ, famously played Hagedorn in an eponymous biopic movie in 1995.
