There was no mention of choosing a new Agriculture Secretary during the sectoral meeting presided over by President Marcos on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) Director Gerald Glenn Panganiban said he cannot confirm anything when asked during a Palace briefing if the selection of a new DA chief was included in the discussion.
He also expressed hope that the President stays as he is "doing a great job" leading the Agriculture department.
"Wala po akong makukumpirma sa inyo (I cannot confirm anything for you now). Hopefully not dahil ang ating Presidente (because our President) I think he's doing a great job at the helm of the department," Panganiban said.
This came after rumors surfaced that Marcos had already named a new DA Chief but it was later denied by the Palace.
It also followed the statement of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, revealing that the President may be "on the way" to choose a new Agriculture secretary.
Panganiban emphasized that the role of Marcos in the DA is crucial in providing solutions to the problems the agriculture sector is currently facing.
"And yung mga problema natin sa Department of Agriculture ay talagang hinaharap ng ating Pangulo (He is really facing the problems in the Department of Agriculture)and I think that's his difference from his predecessors. And him being in the helm, nandiyan lahat, integrate lahat ng efforts ng government (he is integrating all efforts of the government)," Panganiban said.
"With the President there, and the support we're receiving from the Department of Agriculture, I think he is doing a great job," Panganiban added.
Marcos presided over the weekly sectoral meeting in Malacañan to discuss the proposal to lift the price ceiling on rice in the country.
