MPD warns public vs use of gun replicas

The Manila Police District (MPD) has issued a warning on Tuesday, Oct. 3, against the use and transport of gun replicas during the gun ban period.

The Manila police said bearing, carrying, or transporting of imitation firearms, including airsoft guns and airguns, is covered by the prohibition of firearms in all public places, including outside of residence and place of business, during the election period or Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections 2023 (BSKE 2023).

"Unless authorized by the Commission of Election (Comelec), through the Committee on the Ban of Firearms and Security Concerns (CBFSC), any violation thereof is a prohibited act punishable by law," it added.

Likewise, granting of permission for shooting ranges accredited by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to operate is limited during BSKE 2023.

The nationwide gun ban enforcement officially took effect last Aug. 28.
