CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – A farmer who went missing after he was carried away by the rampaging waters of the Burubur River in Barangay Calliat, Balaoan, this province, on September 26 was found dead in the West Philippine Sea in Bangar, La Union on Monday, October 2.
Police identified the victim as Nestor Maglapay, 44, a resident of Barangay Calliat.
Magalapay’s remains were seen floating by fisherman Kenneth Murao of Barangay Paratong Norte, Bangar.
Rescuers in Bangar and Balaoan, Coast Guard Sub-station Bangar, and fishermen of Barangay Mindoro, Bangar retrieved the victim’s remains.
Maglaopay was positively identified by his sister, Tessie Reconoce, 49, of Barangay Calliat through the victim's tattoo on his right shoulder and his short pants.
