Suspects saw the couple and one of them grabbed Denalyn’s bag containing a cellular phone, resulting in a commotion. Her husband resisted the suspects which prompted them to shoot the victims.
Ildefonso died on the spot while his wife sustained a bullet wound and was referred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here where she is in stable condition.
Police recovered from the crime scene five fired bullets and a slug of an unknown firearm.
Onio said the robbers gained entry into the store by destroying its padlock using a bolt cutter.
The robbers who covered their faces carted away P50,000 cash and P100,000 worth of cigarettes. Onio said that inventory of other stolen items is ongoing.
Policemen are looking for closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage that could help them identify the perpetrators who reportedly fled on board a motorcycle.
