'CIA with BA' helps lender claims money from debtors

A certain Emy took to ‘CIA with BA’ to seek help and advice regarding the money amounting to Php150,000 that she lent to her in-laws.

In the segment ‘Payong Kapatid’ of the most recent episode, Sunday, October 1, Emy elaborated on her story with Senators Alan, Pia Cayetano, and Boy Abunda, which she initially shared through the public service program’s official Facebook page.

In 2019, Jenny, the sister-in-law, and Marlon, the brother of Jenny, mortgaged their vehicle to Emy for about Php150,000 to be paid for seven months. With all her trust, Emy agreed not to have the vehicle under her custody since Jenny and Marlon still had to use it for a public utility to earn money for its amortization. A year later, the two still failed to pay her.

“First month pa lang po ng hulog, hindi na po nabuo ‘yung 24,” said Emy, pertaining to Php 24,000 that is supposed to be the amount of Jenny and Marlon’s monthly payment to her. “20 (thousand) lang po ‘yung [naibayad] nila hanggang sa hindi na talaga sila nakahulog.”

“Umabot lang po siguro ng Php65,000 ‘yung nahulog nila, pa-utay-utay,” she added.

What’s more disappointing for Emy is that in 2021, Jenny and Marlon sold the vehicle but never managed to pay her.

True to its goal to help and serve, ‘CIA with BA’ provided legal assistance to Emy, advising her to file small claims to get her money from her in-laws. The show also accompanied her to the Metropolitan Trial Court to fill out the forms she needed for filing her claims.

“Siguro ‘yung pag-uutang, ‘yung pangangailangan at ‘yung [may] mabubuting puso, natural na sa buhay natin,” Senator Pia said as the hosts concluded the episode.

“So kung kayo’y magpapautang, mag-isip kayo ng maraming beses — [like] kung may kakayahan naman talaga kayong mawala ‘yung pera na ‘yon, dahil may posibilidad na hindi makabayad ang umutang,” she reminded the viewers. 

“Hindi naman kaswapangan ‘yon kundi pag-iingat lang naman ‘yon sa pinaghirapan na salapi,” she added.

'CIA with BA' continues the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of sibling senators Alan and Pia. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.
