CEBU CITY – The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) has arrested more than 200 persons as part of the strict enforcement of the election gun ban.
Police Major Nolan Tagsip, spokesperson of CPPO, said the operations against loose firearms have been relentless as part of their preparation for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
“This is a proactive approach of the CPPO for the upcoming BSKE 2023,” Tagsip said.
Tagsip said since the gun ban started on August 28, the CCPO has conducted 263 operations against loose firearms and arrested 238 persons. He added that 267 unlicensed firearms have been seized while 39 cases have been filed.
The gun ban ends on November 29.
The CCPO has also been unrelenting in the campaign against illegal drugs, Tagsip said.
Since August 28, the CCPO has conducted 163 anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 204 suspects and confiscation of illegal drugs worth P5.3 million.
The CCPO has also arrested 13 most wanted persons and 192 other wanted persons.
