3 suspects in drug store robbery nabbed in QC

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan announced on Tuesday, Oct. 3, the arrest of three men allegedly involved in a drug store robbery in Fairview, Quezon City on Sunday, Oct. 1.

QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit chief Brig. Gen. Don Don Llapitan identified the suspects as Orlando Dizon Vidal Jr., 23;  Jay Curada Dangcalan, 21, both residents of Brgy. Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal; and Daniel Serivan Castro, 26, of Brgy. Sta Lucia, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Police said the manager and the cashier of the drug store in Fairview discovered on Sunday, around 5:10 a.m., that the vault in their office containing an undetermined amount of cash and the back door of the establishment were forcibly opened.

Upon receiving the report of the witnesses, operatives responded to the scene and recovered a metal saw inside the office where the vault was located. A hammer was also found at the vacant lot at the back of the store.

The police reviewed a closed-circuit television footage in the area which helped them identify the suspects including their two cohorts.

Members of the QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 5) launched a manhunt operation at  Sta. Barbara, Phase 3, Brgy. Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal, and arrested suspects Vidal Jr. and Dangcalan in front of their house.

Recovered from suspects were a .38-caliber revolver and a bladed weapon.

During the investigation, Vidal Jr. confessed the whereabouts of Castro who resides at Visayas Ave., Brgy. Sta Lucia, Quezon City

Police immediately conducted a follow-up operation which resulted in the arrest of suspect Castro in his residence. The suspect's two cohorts managed to escape.

The suspects will be charged with robbery before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, QCPD said.
