CEBU CITY – More than 100 policemen in Cebu with relatives running in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 30 have been transferred to another assignment.
Police Major Nolan Tagsip, spokesperson of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), said moving the 104 police officers to another assignment is part of the measures to ensure a fair and honest elections.
“This is to ensure political neutrality for the upcoming BSKE,” said Tagsip.
Tagsip said they were either transferred to other municipal police stations or reassigned to the provincial headquarters.
“We made sure that they will be transferred to areas far from their hometowns where they have relatives who are candidates in the upcoming elections,” said Tagsip.
Tagsip said the CPPO is closely coordinating with the Provincial Joint Security Coordinating Center to determine if there are other issues that need to be addressed to ensure a peaceful conduct of the elections.
He said that so far, based on monitoring, there are no private armed groups or criminal groups that may disrupt the elections in the province.
The CCPO has yet to record election-related incidents in the province, said Tagsip.
