Mayor Honey urged Manileños to vote, participate in BSKE 2023

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan urged the Manileños to use their right to vote for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023.

"Sa Lunes, ika-30 ng Oktubre, lahat tayong mga botante ay inaasahang pumunta sa ating mga presinto upang bumoto para sa mga nais nating mamuno sa ating mga barangay. Sa nagdaang ilang araw ng kampanya, sana’y napag-aralan nating mabuti kung sino ang sa palagay natin ay pawang karapat-dapat na bigyan ng ating tiwala (On Monday, October 30, all of us voters are expected to go to our precincts to vote for those we want to lead our barangays. In the last few days of the campaign, I hope we have studied carefully who we think is worthy of our trust)," she expressed in a press statement released on Saturday, Oct. 28, two days before the election.

The mayor also asked the voters to value their choices of candidates as they are the future “frontliners in the government's structure.”

"Ang pamunuan ng ating barangay ang unang-una sa hanay ng istraktura ng ating pamahalaan. Sila ang mas agad nating nalalapitan at natatakbuhan. Sila ang mas malapit at kilala natin. Kaya’t pahalagahan natin ang ating boto (The leadership of our barangay is the first in the structure of our government. They are the ones we immediately approach and run away from. They are closer and known to us. So let's appreciate our vote)," she said.

Lacuna-Pangan also called on the BSKE candidates to jointly work towards clean, orderly, and peaceful elections and to humbly accept whatever verdict is handed by the voters.
   
Meanwhile, she wished all the candidates the best of luck and thanked all of them for offering themselves to be of service to the public.


The mayor also recently held a command conference with the Manila Police District (MPD) in city hall led by newly assigned District Director Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay to remind them of their assignments in the coming BSKE and Undas.

Over 1,000 MPD personnel were deployed to secure polling stations and precincts in all 897 city barangays on Oct. 30, while more or less 2600 policemen will be dispatched to secure public cemeteries on Nov. 1 and 2.

Ibay likewise assured the mayor of the preparedness of the Manila police to keep the city peaceful and orderly in the upcoming holidays.
