Stephen Holt vowed to make an immediate impact for Terrafirma in its hopes of making a run for the playoffs in the upcoming 2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Already too experienced to be called a rookie, the first overall pick of the recent draft is banking on his years playing in Europe as he tries to help the Dyip move up from the cellar of the standings.
“I've been an impact player in my whole career in Europe playing against NBA caliber players in the environment. Obviously Europe, it's a different beast, the game, the travel, and the competition,” said Holt.
“It all starts with me being true to who I am, just play hard on both ends of the floor. If I miss a shot or turnover, it's always the next play mentality. Again, I start to show leadership when I can with this group,” added the 6-foot-4 combo guard.
More than the talent and experience though, Holt said he is bringing in a winning mentality to the team that had been struggling to make its mark in the league since it joined in 2014.
The Dyip only had one playoff appearance under its belt which came in the 2016 Governors’ Cup and are currently in a 14-conference playoff drought.
“It's all about winning. I know this team has struggled, and obviously, I’d love to make the playoffs. Every year in my career so far I've been to the playoffs so I don’t want to have that streak end with Terrafirma,” said Holt.
The 31-year-old rookie is also embracing the challenge of getting Dyip over that hump this season.
“That’s just my responsibility coming in with the first pick.Obviously, I’m not a rookie, technically, with all the experiences I’ve had overseas. And the guys and coaches know that I’m a good dude on and off the court and I care about the right things,” said Holt.
“It’s about working hard and just helping the guys in a positive way, and hopefully we have a successful season,” he added.
