Two Filipino fishermen who were reported missing in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday, Oct. 27.
The PCG identified the fishermen as Rolando Pudolin, 48, and Jeblen Deyta, 30, both from Balayan, Batangas.
According to Coast Guard District Palawan, they received a report that the two fishermen went missing on Oct. 25 while on a fishing expedition in Bulig (First Thomas) Shoal in WPS, approximately 29 nautical miles (53 kilometers) south of Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal.
It turned out that the motorboat of Pudolin and Deyta ran out of fuel which caused them to drift away from their mother boat, fishing boat (FB) Lantis Andrei, due to strong winds and current.
PCG ship BRP Sindangan conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations until they located the two fishermen.
The rescued fishermen were provided with medical assistance and meals.
They were eventually turned over to their mother boat in good physical condition, the PCG said.
