Manila LGU implements liquor ban for BSKE, Undas


The local government of Manila released on Friday, Oct. 27, Executive Order (EO) No. 34-A and EO No. 34-B, implementing a liquor ban from Oct. 29 until Nov. 2 for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and Undas.

The EO No. 34-A stated that a liquor ban in the city will be implemented from Oct. 29 to Oct. 30 for the BSKE, while under EO No. 34-B, a liquor ban will be implemented from Nov. 1 to Nov. 2. for Undas.
 
It stated that the liquor ban shall take effect on the day before and on election day to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the election.
 
During the implementation of the liquor ban for BSKE, the selling, furnishing, offering, buying, serving, or taking of intoxicating liquor by any person is prohibited.
 
It also includes the sale of alcoholic beverages by the owners and managers of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other establishments in the city.
 
During Undas, the sale and consumption of intoxicating and alcoholic beverages within the 500-meter radius of all the public and private cemeteries in the city are prohibited.
