60 more OFWs from Israel to arrive in PH on Oct. 30, DMW says
At least 60 overseas Filipino worker (OFWs) from Israel are expected to arrive in the country on Monday, Oct. 30, as part of the repatriation program amid the conflict between Israel and Hamas group.
DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said the 60 OFWs, along with two infants, will be the fourth batch of Filipinos who were repatriated from Israel since the armed conflict started on Oct. 7.
He said they are composed of 32 hotel workers and 28 caregivers.
“Upon this group's arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport's Terminal 3 (NAIA-T3), this will bring to 119 the total number of OFWs returning to the Philippines since Palestinian militant group Hamas launched combined rocket, ground, sea, and air attacks in southern Israel on October 7,” the DMW, in a statement said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier hoisted Alert Level 2 for OFWs in Israel, which means that non-essential movements are discouraged for their safety.
Although the alert level status does not require repatriation, around 180 Filipinos in Israel have requested repatriation from the Philippine government.
The DMW has committed assistance package for them.
