Parañaque LGU honors outstanding senior citizens


The Parañaque city government recognized the city's outstanding senior citizens for their participation in senior citizen-centered programs of the city on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Mayor Eric Olivarez led the awarding ceremony at the Parañaque City Sports Complex where he thanked all senior citizens officers, especially the 13 nominees for the Outstanding Senior Award.

He said the awarding of Outstanding Senior Citizens is being held annually to recognize the hard work and dedication of senior citizens officials in attending to the needs of their fellow seniors in their areas.

The mayor gave Adoracion Lanuza delos Santos of Barangay Don Bosco the Mayor Eric Olivarez Excellence Award.

The other awardees include Eva Devanadero Abejero of Barangay Marcelo Green, who landed first place; Atty. Rosario Calixto Chavez of Barangay BF Homes, second place;  Oscar Vizcarra Retotar of Barangay Tambo, third place; and Dr. Yolanda dela Cruz Arandia of Barangay Moonwalk and Lolita Tungpalan of Barangay San Isidro, bot got the fourth place.

The mayor added the seven senior citizens nominees were given a Certificate of Merit.

He explained the awardees were chosen based on the judging criteria of the selection panel led by International civic servant Ma. Regina Molera; Air 21 Philippines owner and civic leader Sylvia Lina; City Tourism Office and acting Public Information Office OIC Mr. Melquiades I. Alipo-on; and  National Commission of Senior Citizens Project Development Officer IV Alain Farnacion.
