Marikina LGU sets traffic scheme, guidelines for Undas


The Marikina City local government has announced the traffic scheme and guidelines to be followed by the public who will be visiting cemeteries in the city for Undas from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.

The traffic advisory was released to ease traffic particularly to the Loyola Memorial Park.

A one-way traffic scheme will be implemented along A. Bonifacio Avenue from Barangka Fly-Over until the Marikina Bridge going towards the Marikina City proper starting from 12 noon on Oct. 31 to 12 midnight on Nov. 2.

Motorists heading towards the Loyola Memorial Park are advised to drive along the left side of the road in order to enter the Gate 2 entrance of the cemetery, while vehicles going to the city proper must be at the right side of the road.

Motorists coming from the C-5 By-Pass Road or Marcos Highway and pass through Riverbanks Avenue must exit Riverbanks Avenue and Bonifacio Avenue in order to get to Loyola or the city proper.

Vehicles from Loyola that will leave the cemetery through the Gate 1 exit can turn right to Don Gonzalo Puyat Street, Paspasan Street, and Chorillo Street, then turn right to A. Bonifacio Avenue towards Quezon City.

Vehicles going to Quezon City from the city proper can pass through J.P. Rizal Street towards Marcos Highway.

Guidelines

The local government is strictly prohibiting all visitors to the city’s cemeteries from climbing or stepping on tombs; bringing sharp objects that may cause harm; entering the cemeteries intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or drugs; undressing or taking of their clothes in the cemeteries; as well as urinating and littering in any area within the cemeteries.

It also advised the public to avoid causing noise disruptions, spitting on the grounds of the areas, parking in inappropriate places, and using plastics and styrofoam products.

Visitors must also bring their own umbrellas in anticipation of rains, and wear face masks for their protection.

Incident Command Posts will be stationed at the Loyola Memorial Park, Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish Cemetery, Holy Child Cemetery, Aglipay Cemetery, and Barangka Public Cemetery.

Emergency medical teams, public safety operatives, health stations, ambulances, police, and firefighters will be on standby at the command posts to assist cemetery visitors.

The command posts will be leaded by the central command center of the Office of Public Safety and Security at Rescue 161 (Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office).
