Grab taps SSS, PhilHealth for partner-drivers

Grab, the leading superapp in Southeast Asia, has urged its driver-partners to register with the Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund to secure their future and access the many benefits and services offered by these government agencies.

During the recent Grab Family Wellness Fair, a program that encourages the importance of adopting a healthier lifestyle, Grab Philippines asked the help of SSS and Pag-Ibig to encourage their partner-drivers to register with them.

CJ Lacsican, head of Central Operations for Grab, said that with its long-standing partnership with government-affiliated social protection agencies, Grab also continues to create avenues for driver-partners to acquaint themselves with the available programs and services intended to help them create a stronger safety net for themselves and their families. 

Alexander Hilario G. Aguilar, Pag-IBIG Fund Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Member Services, shared that Pag-IBIG Fund is doing all it can to ensure that access to benefits and programs remain inclusive. “That is why we are happy that Grab PH shares our goal of improving the lives of their driver-partners by helping them gain social protection through Pag-IBIG Fund membership,” said Aguilar.

In fact, he said, thousands of Grab PH driver-partners have already registered as Pag-Ibig members, and now have secure savings and access to home loan programs. “We expect this to further rise in the coming months as we continue to strengthen our partnership," Aguilar added.

 Grab also has  dedicated booths for SSS and Pag-IBIG in its partner center, ensuring that existing and aspiring driver-partners can easily connect with representatives from the agencies for queries and registration.

On its welfare program, Lacsican said that they continue to recognize the hard work and dedication of their driver-partners as they ply busy thoroughfares daily just to ensure a better future for their families. “Their aspirations realized and goals met inspire us to relentlessly develop impactful engagement programs that are tailored to enhance diverse aspects of their lifestyle,” said Lacsican. 

He said that their wellness fair zeroed in on proper nutrition, effective stress management, preventive care and social protection because they want to help them prioritize their own wellbeing, which is often overlooked due to the demanding nature of their livelihoods on the road.

Over 1,000 driver-partners and family members got to avail of free health screenings, medicines and eye exams. They also participated in more workshops and talks on critical health topics such as wellness and healthy diet, preventing non-communicable diseases, cervical cancer awareness and a safety training from Red Cross.
