Estrada: Upcoming BSKE, Undas 2023 should be observed with a sense of tranquility, safety

Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada on Friday, October 27 stressed the importance of maintaining peace and order during the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSK) elections, as well as during the nation’s observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day next week.

In particular, Estrada said it is important to ensure that the BSKE and the upcoming celebration of “Undas”  be observed with a sense of tranquility and safety.

“As we near the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, as well as the observance of Undas, it is of utmost importance that we give priority to maintaining peace and order in our communities,” Estrada said in a statement.

“These events are significant in our national calendar and should be observed with a sense of tranquility and safety for everyone,” the senator said.

Estrada emphasized that the BSK elections “are a crucial part of our democratic process.”

“We urge all candidates and their supporters to peacefully participate in the democratic exercise while abiding by the rule of law and adhering to election regulations. Any form of violence, intimidation, or disruption will and should not be tolerated,” he pointed out.

Estrada, likewise, stressed the importance of ensuring a safe and smooth traveling experience for all Filipinos as many of them are expected to return home to their respective provinces.

The senator urged land and maritime transport authorities to ensure all passengers and motorists’ peace of mind and confidence in their journey and employ mechanisms to prevent accidents especially on sea.

“We expect the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to conduct comprehensive inspections to ensure the seaworthiness of all vessels,” he pointed out.

“This entails verifying the availability of life-saving equipment, adherence to passenger capacity limits, and compliance with safety standards,” he added.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that their journeys are safe and free from any undue risks,” he further said.
