'Oplan Baklas': Comelec, Manila LGU remove illegal campaign posters in Tondo
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the local government of Manila started the "Oplan Baklas" on Friday, Oct. 27, in Tondo, Manila, three days before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

The activity was attended by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, together with Comelec Chairman George Garcia, led the removal of illegal campaign materials such as posters in Barangay 128 Smokey Mountain in Tondo.
The campaign materials were removed because they were not posted in the designated common poster areas or in permitted private properties.
Comelec will give a show cause order to any candidates who do not follow its guidelines on placement of campaign materials.
During the press briefing on Friday, Lacuna-Pangan reminded candidates that as per Comelec's policy, they should put their campaign materials only in the designated areas.
The mayor also urged voters to wisely choose the candidates that they want to lead the city's barangays.
"Sa nagdaang ilang araw ng kampanya, sana'y napag-aralan nating mabuti kung sino ang sa palagay natin ay pawang karapat-dapat na bigyan ng ating tiwala (In the past few days of the campaign, I hope we have studied carefully who we think is worthy of our trust)," she said.
"At para naman sa lahat ng kandidato, good luck po sa inyo. Salamat sa paghahain ninyo ng inyong mga sarili sa paglilingkod. Gawin sana nating malinis, maayos at mapayapa ang halalan para sa Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (And for all the candidates, good luck to all of you. Thank you for offering yourselves to serve the public. Let us make the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections clean, orderly, and peaceful)," the Mayor added.
