Brewing LPA, 'amihan', shear line may bring rains on BSKE, Undas week — PAGASA
The northeast monsoon, shear line, and a potential low pressure area (LPA) will be the dominant weather systems across the archipelago in the coming week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weekly weather outlook released on Friday, Oct. 27.
From Monday to Tuesday, Oct. 30 to 31, PAGASA said Quezon province, Bicol Region, Caraga, and Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the combined effects of the LPA and shear line—an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterly winds converge.
Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will be mostly cloudy with light rains, while Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Ilocos Region will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”
The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
From Wednesday to Friday, Nov. 1 to 3, PAGASA said Quezon province, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas will be cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the continuous effect of the LPA and shear line.
“Floods and landslides are possible in low-lying and in mountainous areas due to prolonged rains,” PAGASA warned.
Meanwhile, mostly cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley and Aurora due to the amihan.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Central Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated monsoon rains.
PAGASA said the rest of the country will continue to have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Moreover, Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds from the northeast, with moderate to rough coastal waters, while the rest of the country will experience light to moderate northeasterly to northwesterly winds, with slight to moderate seas.
