Black Nazarene devotees invited to join preparations for grand feast
The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church) in Manila is inviting the faithful particularly devotees of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno to join in the preparations for the grand feast of the traslacion of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9.

Quiapo Church Parochial Vicar Fr. Hans Magdurulang said preparations are underway for Nazareno 2024 to ensure an orderly and peaceful celebration.
“To all devotees of the Black Nazarene, we are cordially inviting you to keep yourselves updated and follow the preparations for Nazareno 2024 for a peaceful, safe and holy celebration,” said Fr. Magdurulang over Radio Veritas.
Fr. Magdurulang said Quiapo Church is currently coordinating with the local government of Manila and other concerned agencies to plan for a peaceful celebration way ahead of the festivities in January.
“We are studying suggestions to bring back traditional activities for next year’s feast of the Black Nazarene,” the priest said.
The Quiapo Church has launched the official logo and theme for Nazareno 2024 which was taken from John 12:21 “Ibig naming makita si Hesus” (We want to see Jesus).
“So many things are happening around us that affect us physically, mentally and spiritually. Coming from this pandemic and other challenges in our country and in the rest of the world, we need to bring back our gaze, our attention and our hearts to the source of our hope and unity as Filipinos- our Lord Jesus Christ,” stressed Fr. Magdurulang.
The Quiapo Church has skipped the traditional traslacion procession of the revered image from the Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church for the last three years because of the pandemic.
In January this year, the church held a Walk of Faith to mark the feast of the traslacion. The event attracted more than 100,000 devotees from around the country.
