The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is expecting around 1.6 million passengers during this year's long break due to the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and the observance of the All Saints and All Souls Days next week.
PITX Corporate Affairs and Government Relations chief Jason Salvador said they expect the influx of passengers beginning Friday, Oct. 27 and until Monday, Nov.6, as the long holiday weekend comes to an end.
“Magmula bukas, Biyernes, ay magsisimula nang lumikas ang mga taga Manila patungo sa kanilang probinsya upang samantalahin ang pagkakataon na lumuwas sa Metro Manila (Beginning tomorrow, Friday, residents of Manila will start to leave for their respective provinces in order to take advantage of the chance to travel outside Metro Manila),” said Salvador
“As early as the first week of October, talagang naghahanda na tayo para siguraduhin na maging maayos, komportable, at ligtas ang paglalakbay ng ating mga kababayan (As early as the first week of October, we are making serious efforts to ensure that our countrymen's trip is seamless, comfortable, and safe),” he added.
Despite the expected high number of travelers, Salvador reiterated that safety remains their priority. PITX is taking advanced measures to protect the reliability of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) and the security of their drivers in cooperation with the Land Transportation Office (LTO). (Trixee Rosel)
