Fireman arrested for extorting P200,000 in exchange for BFP officer post
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have arrested a 29-year old employee of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for allegedly promising a slot to become an officer in the agency in exchange for a huge sum of money.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat, Jr. said the arrested suspect is assigned to the Muntinlupa Fire Station and was arrested based on the complaint of his victim who said that he was assured of entry to the BFP as an officer in exchange for P200,000.
The suspect, with a rank of Fire Officer 1, was arrested in an entrapment in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
During the investigation, the suspect admitted that he was working with other erring personnel of the BFP but the CIDG said it is still subject for verification.
Appropriate criminal and administrative charges are now being readied against the suspect.
