ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 has released aid to the families of two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Western Visayas who were killed in attacks by extremist group Hamas in Israel recently.

Carmelo Nochete, DSWD-6 director, said that the families of Mary Grace Prodigo-Cabrera and Loreta Alacre were given cash and other assistance.
DSWD-6 Assistant Regional Director for Operations Arwin Razo said the DSWD-Crisis Intervention Section visited the Prodigo and the Alacre families.
The Prodigo family from Maasin, Iloilo received P40,000 cash, P30,000 to the mother and siblings. They also received P10,000 food assistance.
The Alacre family from Cadiz City, Negros Occidental received a total of P50,000 aid – P10,000 cash, P10,000 in burial assistance as the remains of Alacre arrived last week, P10,000 food assistance, and P20,000 in educational assistance for Loreta’s nephew and niece as she was helping her sister who is a single parent.
Nochete assured that they will extend assistance to any OFW from Western Visayas repatriated due to the conflict in Israel.
