The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to open the two-lane flyover project in Pilar, Bataan in December, saying it will certainly lessen the traffic gridlock in the area.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said the Ala-Uli Steel Flyover in Barangay Ala Uli, Pilar will benefit commuters passing the intersection of Gov. J.J. Linao National Road and Roman Superhighway (formerly Bataan Provincial Highway).

Bonoan said the project is considered one of the top priorities under the Mega-Bridges for Urban and Rural Development Project (MBURDP), it involves the 600 lineal meter construction of bridges and flyovers to improve the road network along subsidiary national routes.
Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain said the exponential rise in the number of vehicles going to Bataan province, led to more pressure on existing road infrastructure.
He added the construction of the major intersection flyover is intended to greatly improve mobility, which is essential to social and economic growth.
As the implementing unit, DPWH-3 will be in charge of ensuring that the contractor uses only those supplies that are specified and adhere to building and safety regulations.
Meanwhile, the provincial government and the LGU will work together to relocate any affected utilities and clear any existing structures immediately. This will be done in coordination with the relevant public utility providers.
They will be responsible for access road purchases, payments, formulation of traffic management and rerouting plans, along with their enforcement. (Trixee Rosel)
