Cops arrest man who hammered teenage girl to death in Caloocan
The man who allegedly hammered to death a teenage girl inside her house in Barangay 12, Caloocan City, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 24, a day after he committed the crime, the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) announced.
Col. Ruben Lacuesta, CCPS chief, said the police established that robbery was the motive behind the killing of the 17-year-old girl following the arrest of the suspect identified as Rapael Alison, 40, the victim's neighbor in a compound on Sabalo Street in Barangay 12.
Police said they launched a manhunt operation after witnesses told investigators that they saw Alison leaving the victim’s residence after they heard an unusual noise outside their homes.
According to the police, a neighbor of the victim, who went out after hearing the noise at around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, found the girl lying on the floor of her house with blood oozing from her head.
The victim was rushed to a hospital by her cousins, but she was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities said the victim reportedly died from severe traumatic head injury.
A hammer that was allegedly used by the suspect in hitting the victim was also found by the police inside the her house.
Lacuesta said that the personal belongings of the victim, including her cellphone and wallet of the victim, were missing.
During questioning, the police chief said the suspect admitted that he hit the victim in the head with the hammer when she woke up and shouted after seeing him inside her house.
Police recovered from the suspect a backpack containing a his checkered shorts and a pair of black slippers with blood stains, and a wallet with the student identification card of the victim.
The victim’s father confirmed that the wallet was owned by his daughter, police said.
It said that the recovered evidence with bloodstains will be submitted for laboratory examination.
Alison was charged for robbery with homicide before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
