Turkish man robbed of cellphone in Pasay City; suspect arrested


A man was arrested by patrolling policemen after he and his companion robbed a Turkish national of a cellphone in Pasay City on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Col. Froilan Uy, city police chief, identified the arrested suspect as certain John, 21. His companion, identified only as Jeffrey, was able to elude arrest.

Uy said the incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. at Sunrise Drive, Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex, Barangay 76, Zone 10, Pasay City.

He said the victim, identified as  Mert, a Turkish, was robbed by the suspects of his iPhone 13 Promax worth P80,000.

Two security guards in the area tried to chase the suspects who fled on board a motorcycle.

Members of the Pasay City Police Substation 10, who were conducting patrol in the area, pursued the suspects during which John to fell to the ground. 

The police arrested John and recovered from him a .38-caliber revolver with five live ammunition. 

Police immediately brought the arrested suspect at the police custodial facility and was charged with violation of robbery and illegal possession of firearm.
