3 suspects in murder of village chair bet in Pangasinan charged

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Police have identified and charged three suspects in the killing of Arnel Adolfo Flormata, a 41-year-old candidate for barangay captain in Barangay Bayaoas, Sitio Casagatan, Aguilar, Pangasinan, on Sunday, October 22.

Murder cases were filed against Jason Marquez Vicente, driver; Kelly Doroy Rosario, 54, alleged gunman, and Maria Magnolia Repascol Gelido, 58, Barangay Bayaoas captain and tagged as the mastermind.

PANGASINAN police chief Police Col. Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan Gov. Ramon V. Guico III, and Marino Salas, provincial Commission on Elections chief, hold a press conference on the arrest of three suspects in the murder of a candidate for barangay captain in Aguilar, Pangasinan in Lingayen, Pangasinan, on Thursday, October 25. 

"A case of murder was filed on Wednesday, October 25, at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor against the three suspects. Thus, this case is already considered solved due to the immediate and efficient response of our PNP Pangasinan team. This proves that we are committed to speedy justice and any candidate who will resort to violence will face the full force of the law. Your police will continue to maintain peace and order in the province during this political exercise. That is our commitment to our kabaleyans for this BSKE," Police Col. Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan police chief, said on Thursday, October 26.

As a result of follow-up investigation, Vicente surrendered on Tuesday, October 24.

Vicente executed an extra-judicial confession in the presence of counsel Jodalyn Zamuco Idos.

Idos said Vicente was driver of the getaway tricycle and he identified the gunman and the mastermind.

Rosario was ex-o and candidate for kagawad or councilor of Barangay Dorongan Punta, Mangatarem, Pangasinan. He was arrested in a pursuit operation in his residence on October 25.

Gelido, 58, a reelectionist, was arrested in house on October 25.

Suspects are under the custody of the Aguilar Police Station.
