LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Police arrested on Wednesday, October 25, two suspects in the murder of a candidate in the barangay elections in Barangay Bayaoas, Aguilar, Pangasinan on Sunday night, October 22.
The victim, Arnel Adolfo Flormata, 41, a candidate for barangay captain in Barangay Bayaoas and an administrative supervisor for a solar services company, had just attended a campaign sortie and was disembarking from his vehicle when a man appeared and shot him in the head.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The gunman and cohort sped off on board a tricycle.
Police Col. Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan police chief, personally supervised the investigation conducted by the Aguilar police after the incident.
The suspects – the gunman and the mastermind – were arrested in a hot-pursuit operation in their residence.
A press conference announcing the arrest of the suspects is expected on Thursday, October 26.
