BACOLOD CITY – The new headquarters of the Police Station 7 in Barangay Mansilingan here was inaugurated on Wednesday, October 25.
Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, retired Police Brig. Gen. Primitivo Tabujara Jr., city anti-drug program coordinator, representing Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez, Police Col. Noel Aliño, Bacolod police director, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) inaugurated the building.
Police Capt. Andy Ofalia, head of Police Station 7, said the city government donated a 400-square meter lot for the new police station, situated a block away from the Mansilingan barangay hall.
Ofalia said they will soon transfer to the new building, once the installation of electric and internet utilities are completed.
He said that they have been occupying a lot owned by A.L. Jayme Elementary School for several years now.
Ofalia said that he has no idea about the plan on the old police station but it might be used as office of another unit.
Gasataya thanked the DPWH for completing the project that will benefit the community and the law enforcement.
He said that the DPWH will install monitoring systems and 32 surveillance cameras in strategic areas that would aid the police in peace and order.
Aliño said the edifice stands as a symbol of progress and commitment. “It’s a testament to the unyielding dedication of our law enforcement officers, and the unwavering support of the community.”
He thanked those who made the project possible. “May this new police station stands as a beacon of hope and symbol of our shared commitment to safety and justice,” he said.
The standard headquarters of the Police Station 7 is the first of out of the 10 police stations in this city. A standard PNP station has three floors, tropical cyclone-proof, and built on a 400-square meter lot.
