MRT-3 ready to accommodate more passengers for BSKE, 'Undas'
The Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) is ready to accommodate commuters during the expected influx of passengers for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Jorjette Aquino said the MRT-3 operations is part of the 'Oplan Byaheng Ayos' which was launched for the long weekend.
“Sinimulan na po natin ang pagpapairal ng mas mahigpit na seguridad sa MRT-3 upang matiyak ang tuloy-tuloy at ligtas na biyahe ng mga pasahero sa eleksyon at Undas. Gayundin po, mayroon po tayong sapat na bilang ng mga kawani na handang umagapay sa mga pasahero at aksyunan ang kanilang mga hinaing kung kinakailangan (We have begun implementing greater safety measures on the MRT-3 in order to guarantee passengers' unaltered and safe passage to the elections and Undas. Additionally, we have a sufficient number of employees on standby to help passengers and, if necessary, address their complaints),” said. Aquino.
Aquino added that the proper maintenance of the wagons and the deployment of a sufficient number of trains to serve the passengers is still in progress, particularly during the peak of SK elections and All Saints Day.
There are currently three to four spare train units as well as the 18 train sets operating in revenue during peak hours. (Trixee Rosel)
