The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said increased lava effusion was observed at Mayon's summit crater producing "frequent and numerous" incandescent rockfall and pyroclastic density current (PDC) events.

Phivolcs on Wednesday, Oct. 25 said the Mayon Volcano Network has recorded 53 PDCs and 226 rockfall events as well as 40 volcanic tremors with a duration of two to 72 minutes.
The lava still flows at a length of approximately 3.4 kilometers along Bonga, 2.8 kilometers along Mi-isi, and 1.1 kilometers along Basud Gullies, said Phivolcs.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said the volcanic sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission has an average of 919 tons per day as of Oct. 23.
Phivolcs still warned the public of possible hazardous eruption in the following days or weeks, as Alert Level 3 is maintained over Mayon Volcano.
Phivolcs also advised the public to stay evacuated from the 6-km radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) due to the risks of PDCs, lava flows, rockfalls, lahars, and sediment-laden streamflows among other volcanic hazards. (Lizst Torres Abello)
