Co champions unity among Bicol youth in university sports fest launch

Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co has placed the spotlight on the unity and resiliency of Bicol's youth--the future of the region. 

During the opening ceremony of Bicol University Olympics 2023, a university-wide sports fest, Co highlighted the importance of cultivating the youth’s sense of camaraderie. 

“Sports festivals have the transformative power of integrating sportsmanship within the academic journey since they cultivate discipline, teamwork, and a profound sense of community — attributes crucial in shaping future leaders — among students,” the solon said. 

Co, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, said sports competition goes beyond athleticism and physical aspects as it also promotes flexibility, solidarity, and shared aspirations. 

“It is through this holistic approach that we can forge our future leaders, individuals who are not only intellectually adept but also embody discipline, teamwork, and, most importantly, a deep sense of community,” the House leader emphasized. 

“Kayo ang patunay na sa pagkakaisa, walang hindi makakaya,” he added. 

(You are proof that in unity, nothing is impossible.) 

Co says that the 2023 Bicol University Olympics confirms the notion that a well-rounded education system can value physical fitness, mental fortitude, and emotional maturity just as much as academic achievements. -- Dexter Barro II
