President Marcos is expected to honor the Filipino athletes on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 25.

Marcos said a Presidential Citation will be bestowed on the national athletes in recognition of their "demonstrated excellence and achievements" in their respective sports during the recently concluded 2023 Asian Games.

He added their achievements increase national interest and awareness of sports among the youth and other aspiring Filipino athletes.

The President also called them "our modern-day heroes who bring pride, honor, and joy to our fellow Filipinos."

"The medals received by our athletes during the Asian Games 2023 are a testament to the fact that Filipinos in the international sports arena are truly world-class. The government aims to continue supporting our athletes in many more international sporting events as we work together towards a Bagong Pilipinas," Marcos said in a statement.

Aside from the citation, each of the medalists will also receive additional incentives from the Office of the President, amounting to a collective P22.8 million pesos.

They will also be granted incentives from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) through the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), totaling P19.1 million.

The Asian Games 2023 medalists will be accompanied by their respective families during an awarding ceremony hosted by the Office of the President, in collaboration with the Presidential Communications Office. It will be held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Students from various schools, colleges, and universities in Metro Manila will participate in this musical celebration with performances by the Konsyerto sa Palasyo artists and musicians.
