The 1.1 million household-recipients of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) that had been initially delisted are now back in the program, said Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

The announcement was made during the 4Ps National Family Day celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Gatchalian said the approximately 1.1 million 4Ps households that were previously delisted from the program will now be added back to the list of beneficiaries and will still be eligible for grants.

“The quality of life has changed after Covid. We know that poverty had a different face back then, and it looks different now,” he said in Filipino.

Gatchalian said the department continues to introduce strategies to improve the 4Ps implementation, such as cleaning up the list of beneficiaries and introducing new modules for the Family Development Sessions (FDS).

“We need to ensure that those who should be part of the 4Ps program will remain in it, while those whose lives have improved to the point where they can graduate from the program can do so. This way, those who are waiting to become part of the program can have the opportunity to join,” he said.

Gatchalian emphasized that the 4Ps-National Program Management Office continues the re-assessment by working with its regional counterparts to determine the current living circumstances of the 4Ps beneficiaries.

This is done by using the Social Welfare and Development Indicator.

“We guarantee you that we will make sure that the list is accurate, well-organized, and effectively captures the face of poverty so that we can help our fellow countrymen,” he said.

Gatchalian added that the DSWD would roll out new FDS modules to help the beneficiaries further develop their skills and literacy, particularly in the area of digital financial literacy.

He noted that the 4Ps members will be taught to open and maintain a savings account and provide them with other modalities in achieving financial inclusion, such as e-wallets.

“We want them to have the flexibility and the ability to use new financial instruments for their grants,” he said.

The 4Ps National Family Day celebration honored 17 households as "Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya" for their exemplary practices and accomplishments that had a positive impact on their families and communities and fostered family unity.

Along with the other awards given by their respective DSWD field offices, each winner also received a plaque of recognition and a P10,000 cash incentive.
