CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 on Monday, October 23, led the send-off and turnover of security forces and resources to the Commission on Elections for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in the Ilocos region on October 30.

Police Brig. Gen. John C. Chua, PRO-1 chief, led the send-off ceremony at the PRO-1 Grandstand here and underscored they are ready for the elections.
Chua said 8,586 security personnel were deployed to secure voting centers and conduct checkpoint operations in the region – 8,133 from the PRO-1, 347 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and 106 from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Reddy Balarbar, Comelec-Region 1 assistant regional election supervisor, cited law enforcement agencies for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the BSKE.
Balarbar reminded security forces to implement the law without fear and favor. “Ipagpatuloy natin ang ating mga gawain. Ipatupad natin ang batas ng halalan. ‘Wag tayong matakot.”
The PRO-1 recalled police personnel undergoing mandatory courses to complement the strength of security forces rendering election duties.
The turnover was sealed by the acceptance of Balarbar and security forces and resources were blessed by a priest for their safety after the turnover.
